What they don't tell you post-uni

The cap. The gown. The fancy degree and the HECS debt.
They're the things you know upon graduating.

But there are some things they've forgotten to include in your transcript.
Like how difficult it can be to get a job within the industry despite your great grades, solid work experience and contactable references.
Or how your brain can feel like a plate of jelly balancing on a jack hammer.
Or how writing your resume can feel like a test you're inevitably going to fail.
Or how accepting rejection becomes a weekly task, like taking trash out - only you're the trash, or at least your resume is.
It doesn't seem to matter how much hustle you bustled through the years of study - you could have an extensive and polished CV in your back pocket upon graduation, but it doesn't guarantee you a job, let alone a job that you might want and thrive in.
There's several things we can feel forced to give up post-uni:
The dream job ideation.
The right culture fit.
Self worth.
But I'm here to tell you; scrunch those scribbles into a ball and three-pointer that dribble into the bin now.
You've gotta give up those sticky, icky, half-chewed gum drop thoughts.
And while you're at it - give up those expectations that you have to hold yourself to fit into anything offered your way.
No.
You're a god damn graduate with knowledge, skills and a bucket full of potential.
Hold onto that dream job ideation.
Leech to finding a workplace culture that is right for you,
And most of all, hold onto the belief that you have everything they need and the right job is coming your way.
So despite not being told how challenging it might be right now, you didn't come this far to only come this far.
Trudge on my fellow post-uni solider.
We got this.
Chehwhooo!
